The following are, but are not limited to, the featured animals at the Oleson Park Zoo.
Bobcat--a wild carnivorous creature found throughout deserts of the American southwest. Bears, Black--bottle-fed bear cubs that are only a few months old, one of the main attractions. Camel--a young dromedary (one-hump) camel, originally from the middle east. Capybara--the largest rodent in the world and can grow up to the size of a pig. Coatimundi--small playful raccoon-like mammals often mistaken for monkeys. Estimated to be only 262 worldwide. Deer, Fallow, Muntjac, White and Whitetail--four different kinds of deer, including the smallest deer and completely white deer. Emus--flightless, second largest of all birds with dull brown plumage. Fox, Fennec, Marble, and Red--small, dog-like animals with prominent ears and a long bushy tail. Horses, Miniature--a full grown miniature pony along with a miniature colt. Ibises, Sacred--birds with long beaks used for probing mud, worshipped as a god in ancient Egypt. Llama--gentle, tame, very smart creatures that are especially loved for their wool. Mink--a member of the weasel family, they have a long slender body and short legs and are valued for their fur. Pheasants--variety of colored roosters and hens. Porcupines--vigorous rodent with a blunt-nosed face and body covered with long quills. Prairie Dogs--small rodents with the ability to dig huge burrows underground. Rabbits--many different kinds of rabbits, including small rabbits to pick up and hold and are also for sale ($5). Rheas--large, flightless birds from the forests of South America. Swans, Mute and Australian--largest, and usually considered the most beautiful, of all waterfowl. Tortoise, African Spurred--largest African mainland tortoise and can grow up to 35 inches. Wallabies--like a small kangaroo.
